Educational

Educational: we are empowering our community’s children and families to reach their highest potential.

Early Childhood

On Your Mark works to prepare preschool-aged children in our community to succeed in school. By teaching these little ones the essentials (like ABC’s, 123’s, basic English, and how to behave in a classroom), On Your Mark gives them a solid foundation to ensure success in school right from the start. It also provides a Christ-centered space for young minds to develop socially, emotionally, and physically, as well as educationally.

K-12

Set on Success Foundations is Urban Vision’s after-school academic and life skills program for K-5th graders.

Every day after school, students receive a healthy meal and structured gym time, followed by a personalized schedule of homework help, one-on-one tutoring in problem areas, specialized classes to meet their interests, sports and arts electives.

The Servant Leadership Program (or SLT) trains 6th-12th graders to be disciples in the community, and offers one-on-one tutoring when needed.

Adults

To minister to adults in our community, we partner with several organizations:

Crossings Akron - adult English classes

Legacies of Success - housing and financial education

North Side Open Door Church - spiritual development

Discipleship: we are strengthening our community by making disciples and equipping the next generation of leaders.

Spiritual Development

At Urban Vision, we believe that no change will happen in our community or in its people, without a firm foundation in Christ. We want to come alongside our neighbors holistically, starting with their spiritual needs. Though some UV programs are more Gospel-focused than others, every ministry here is Gospel-driven.

Spiritual mentorship and discipleship are woven into the fabric of our relationships, whether in the form of Bible lessons at Kids’ Club, mentoring groups as part of S.O.S., or worship dance in “In His Steps” ballet.

Leadership Development

Urban Vision firmly believes that today’s North Hill teens are tomorrow’s North Hill leaders. Raising up and training indigenous leaders from within our community is essential to long-lasting revitalization. We encourage student involvement as teen volunteers in the programs they loved as children, like Kids’ Club, where many of our leaders are former participants.

Outreach: we are reaching into our community to build relationships, offer hope and meet holistic needs.

Kids Club

Kids’ Club is Urban Vision’s original program. We believe every child deserves to have an opportunity to hear the Gospel in a fun, safe environment. Every Friday after school, UV opens its doors to K-5th graders from our community for Kids’ Club. This VBS-style program offers fun and games, crafts, a healthy meal, and most importantly – worship and a Bible lesson.

STEP

STEP is a youth ministry for students in grades 6th-12th which provides a much-needed time with God for students who are seeking to grow in their faith. STEP’s mission is to fill the gap and deliver a consistent flow of the Word into the lives of both junior and senior high students by providing a time of Christian community, worship, prayer, and learning. We seek to respectfully help students grow in their faith and to take the next step in their walk with Christ.
